About foto~art8

foto~ART8 was founded in 1998 by a group of photographers from Northern Ireland. The group is a non profit organisation with the stated aim of the promotion and development of the photographic visual arts through exhibition and example. The eight founding members are Alastair Bell, Gerry Coe, David Foster, Peter Hughes, Ray Magill, Harry Pettis, Keith Rolleston and Hugh Rooney. We are all members of Bangor & North Down Camera Club. This site contains information about foto~art8, and galleries which contain examples of the photographic work of the group.

foto~ART8 is not just an exhibition of photography, but the group also organise workshops and lectures on both conventional and digital photography. We have already organised a number of successful workshops with such notable Photographers as John Blakemore, Barry Thornton, David Herrod, Les McClean and Dan Burkholder.

foto~art8 have so far had three photographic exhibitions which have been shown at art galleries throughout Ireland. These exhibitions have featured a wide variety of photographic styles and techniques from black & white to colour, 35mm to medium format, lith to digital, traditional to alternative; individual images brought together and exhibited collectively.

We plan to run further exhibitions and will post details on this site as they become available. The group is also working collectively on a photographic book which will be published later this year.

For further information on the work of the group or to enquire about print sales please contact us using the Contact page.
